What Are Water-Gems?
Water-Gems are made of a super absorbent polymer which absorbs, stores, and slowly releases water. They are ideal for growing plants, fresh cut flowers, and as beautiful, decorative centerpieces.

What are the benefits of using Water-Gems?
Water-Gems allow you to keep your indoor plants hydrated for weeks. They make a great base for arranging fresh cut flowers. Because the gems are soft and flexible, you can position the stems easily. They are non-toxic, bio-degradable, colorfast, odor free, mold resistant, and reusable.

How many colors do Water-Gems come in and can I mix them?
Water-Gems come in 12 colors. Because they are colorfast you can mix them or layer them.

What size package do Water-Gems come in and how much will each pack make?
Each pack of Water-Gems is 10 grams. When hydrated, a pack will yield about 4 cups.

Are Water-Gems safe?
Yes. Water-Gems are non-toxic, bio-degradable and environmentally safe. However, we suggest keeping Water-Gems out of the reach of small children because if swallowed, they may present a choking hazard.

How will I know when to rehydrate the Water-Gems?
As the Water-Gems begin to release water, you will notice the gems on top beginning to shrink. When the gems have shrunk to about half their size, you will want to rehydrate for 2-3 hours.

What kind of plants grow best in Water-Gems?
Most  plants that you would typically water once a week do well in Water-Gems.  Plants such as: Bromeliads, Lucky Bamboo, Palm Plants, Spider Plants, Dracaena, Pothos, Ivy, Philadandrum, Phaleanopsis Orchids, and many more.

How do I use Water-Gems with fresh-cut flowers?
Pour hydrated gems into your vase, leaving enough water at the bottom to cover the cut end of the flowers. Before placing your flowers in the gems, cut another ½ inch off the end of the stems, which will help the flowers drink more effectively. After you discard your flowers, give the gems a quick rinse in a colander, and store in a zip-lock bag in the refrigerator for future use.

Do I need special water?
The use of filtered, spring, or distilled water works best. Tap water works, however, some tap water contains high contents of minerals which will affect the gems reaching their maximum size.

Do I need fertilizer?
Live plants need nutrients. Add ¼ tsp. of liquid fertilizer to the water when hydrating your gems. Do not use fertilizer when using the gems for fresh-cut flowers, lucky bamboo or for decorative centerpieces.

What other ways can I use Water-Gems?
Besides plants and fresh-cut flowers, Water-Gems are ideal for creating beautiful centerpieces for holidays and special occasions. By adding silk flowers, candles and/ or our submersible lights, the possibilities are endless.
